NRTC Trainers' Journal Club |
Who are the NRTC's trainers?
NRTC trainers are active clinicians in respiratory care and trained educators. Trainers are licensed health professionals who have intensive preparation in their fields and have completed the NRTC’s course. They are selected because they enjoy sharing their knowledge and experience with other clinicians. Building on their clinical expertise, the NRTC develops its trainers to deliver an interactive learning experience in every course and workshop.
NRTC trainers stay on top of advancements in respiratory care
NRTC trainers are expected to be knowledgeable about articles in the scientific and medical literature within their practice and training areas. To facilitate ongoing development, the NRTC hosts a quarterly journal club for its trainers.
The NRTC Trainer's Journal Club serves a dual purpose to maintain expert competence and enable trainers to network with colleagues across the country. Meeting quarterly via teleconference, Journal Club topics explore the evidence base of the NRTC’s courses and workshops and recent advancements in respiratory care.
How does it work?
In advance of each teleconference, 3-4 articles are identified, as well as “news flash” items, for discussion. Trainers are sent the agenda, as well as prompts to review an article each month. During the Journal Club, trainers rotate responsibility for leading discussion about selected articles.
